How To See Where Your Twitter Friends Are On A Google Map

Ever wondered where all your Twitter friends are? Do you think you actually know where every single one of your ‘tweeps’ are? (Man, I hate that term.) I recently stumbled across a one-click service that shows you exactly where each of your Twitter friends are located.

Here’s how it works. You go to the Twitter Friends Map tool on Visual.ly (a great repository of interesting infographics and other multimedia) and then click the ‘connect’ button on the bottom right of your screen. Wait about 20 seconds and then start watching the people you follow magically appear on the Google map.

As you can see from the screenshot below, the areas that have numbers signify how many friends you have in a denser area. When you mouse over that number, you’ll see that there are indeed 8 (or however many) people in that area. Expect to see lots of that in cities and other dense areas.

Give it a try and share your screenshots on the Edudemic Facebook page! We’d love to see how spread out (or not) your Twitter friends are. How do they compare to the people @Edudemic follows (visualized below)?
