How To Quickly Build A Website Right From Your iPad

If you’ve ever wanted to create a gorgeous and professional classroom website, there’s an exciting new app coming soon to a tablet near you.

Announced just moments ago at Adobe MAX (photo to the right), I was there to check out the new product first-hand. Here’s the skinny: Adobe is building apps that make the iPad and Android tablets more professional. One of those apps lets anyone quickly build a wireframed and solidly organized website.

Website Design

They’ve made it so you can now wireframe, present, code, and develop an entire website right from the new app called Proto.

Adobe® Proto, a new Adobe Touch App, lets you create interactive wireframes and prototypes of websites and mobile apps on your tablet.

Communicate and share ideas with teams and clients using a touch-based interface.¹ Initially available for Android™.

The Proto app lets you easily swipe and drag to insert generic text, menus, picture spaces, etc.

Stroke gestures

Sketch website and mobile app wireframe layouts with simple finger strokes on your tablet’s touchscreen.

Component toolbox

Insert interactive wireframe components from the component toolbox, including menus, tabs, accordions, and more, to quickly capture your design idea.

CSS grid system

Build your interactive wireframes using well-known CSS grid systems, or work freeform with a blank sheet.

Integration with Adobe Creative Cloud

Upload your files to Adobe Creative Cloud and then access them from your desktop for further work in Adobe Creative Suite® software, or to share with others.²

Browser support

Render, view, and interact with your designs in popular web browsers. The latest webkit and jQuery support help maintain the integrity of your designs.

Best of all, it’s going to be $9.99. That’s a far cry from the usual prices for Adobe software. Click here to get notified when Proto is released.

It’s really quite neat and worth checking out if you’re interested in a better way to develop a website while on the go. When inspiration strikes, you’ll be ready, basically.

Adobe also announced a few other interesting apps (Photoshop Touch!) and I’ll cover those later on. For now, I personally found Adobe Proto to be one of the most interesting apps in recent memory.

Proto looks like a very good tool for advanced designers to bring a webdesign project from conception to reality. What about tools for non professionals to create websites directly from the iPad. There is now a new tool that will let novices and seasoned professionals alike design, create and publish a websites directly from iPads and iPhones.

If you are looking for a very simple tool that will let you build and maintain a website directly from iPads or iPhones give Simple Different a try.

You can also build a website from iPad easily using Simpl – the new free iPad app. Incidentally we have lots of teachers using it in the classroom because it’s free to download and even free to publish for the first two weeks – perfect for school projects!
