As if there was any doubt, libraries and book stores are so last year. In its ever-expanding role as the King of All Media, Google just unveiled a new feature to Google Books: Ngram Viewer.
In a nutshell, it lets you search millions of books for keywords. Applying boolean strings means you can search for new (or very old) books that contain topics and keywords you might be interested in.
For example, searching for education AND technology AND social media returned lots of results (see below). It also returns an easy-to-understand line chart that shows the prevalence of the terms over the past decades. Obviously technology and social media are terms that are more popular now.
However, why not try figuring out what some of the most popular words were in the 1950s or even 1920? There’s so much you can do with this new product so why are you wasting time reading this! Visit Google Books Ngram Viewer today!
