What The Global Gender Gap Looks Like (Interactive Map)

The handy infographic below takes a look at the still-in-existence and ever-infamous gender gap. Often times when educational gender divides are discussed, the focus is mainly on STEM subjects, where women are traditionally quite underrepresented, more so than in education more generally.

This particular visual discussion focuses on separating and comparing the gender gap statistics based on country. The map view is interactive, so you can use the drop down filter on the Global Mapping tab to visualize different components of the gender gap. Use the Country Snapshot tab to select a country and see all of the gender gap parameters over time. You can use the map colors to visually see where the largest and smallest gender gaps exist, or you can select country by country for a more personalized comparison. Do the trends you see line up with what you already knew about global education, or does the visual tell you a different story than you expected? Weigh in by leaving a comment below, mentioning @Edudemic on Twitter or leaving your thoughts on our Facebook page.
