Finally, Affordable Digital Publishing Software For Education

If you’re a Web 2.0 teacher, you probably love social media and trying out the latest stuff. That means you’ve likely taken a stab at desktop publishing, video creation, image editing, and more. Until now, that meant you had to buy some of the most expensive software on the planet. Lucky for us in education, that’s no longer the case.

The Adobe Digital School Collection lets entire schools and districts use the best features of the best software at an affordable price. What is the ADSC you ask? It’s basically 3 of Adobe’s most popular programs packaged together at a cheaper price that’s actually reasonable. You have to prove you’re eligible for the software in order to buy it and then you can figure out which pricing plan works for you and your school.

Which Plan Is For Me?

I’m thinking that most schools will be taking advantage of the ‘Transactional Licensing Program (TLP) which lets you have no minimum number of orders. Basically, it’s the way to go if you’re trying to save money and get some cool new software to build newsletters, videos, and other dazzling stuff.

What You Get

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (It’s got more than enough stuff to let you do anything you want. I’ve used it and can vouch!)
  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 (I’m a novice filmmaker and have used Premiere Elements 10 for a few days. I was able to make a podcast, quick commercial for my dog, and edit an existing video without having much prior knowledge of Premiere)
  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Ever wanted to create a newsletter or simply make a PDF? You’ll need Acrobat X Pro. It lets you highlight, mark, note, manipulate, and do anything you need. This alone makes the ADSC helpful)

Disclosure: I was provided a free copy of the ADSC for trial purposes but wasn’t paid or anything like that. I’m allowed to write a purely negative review if I want. However, I’m a fan of the ADSC and think it’s a good step towards getting premium technology into cash-strapped classrooms.
