Lucky for you, there’s a handy infographic with 30 different facts and figures all about the history and present day status of Thanksgiving. First, a bit of a history lesson:
It began when 102 came to the now-U.S. on the Mayflower in 1621. Back then, there were 6.000 Wampanoag (compared to the present day 2,000 population). In the beginning, there were no pies and cakes served and it was not really anything like present day.
What was eaten back then? There were definitely some deer but it’s still not known if turkey was a part of the first-ever celebration.
Research shows that lobsters, seal, swans, and mussels were on the menu, though.
So what’s Thanksgiving look like today? This infographic should help out our international readers who may not be celebrating the holiday today. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!
