Looking to find a new, simple, and free way to gamify your classroom? There a new web tool out that you should probably know about. It’s called ClassBadges and it’s a free online tool where teachers can award badges for student accomplishments. Teachers can set up an account and award the badges whenever they wish. Pretty straightforward.

How It Works

Request an invite to create an account (it looks like right now, they’re working on handling a higher capacity of users), and once you do, you’ll be able to create a class list. From there, you’ll have a class code to give to your students, who will be able to sign in and see their badges.

You’re able to choose what badges are awarded (and they’re customizable!) and what goals the students need to attain to qualify for the badge. Students will be able to see their badges from different classes and subjects in one place, so they can keep track of progress in a variety of subjects.

This sounds interesting. going to have a look.

My question is: what ages does this work/not work with? Better for older, or younger? Males/females? Anyone know of any resources that have covered these questions before?

Hey Josh, we built the tool that it could be used in a variety of ways. We have college professors using it with their students all the way down to 1st graders. We’re only a few weeks old so we have a long way to go and improve the site. Let me know what you think!

      Best,

Thanks, James. That’s good to know. Perhaps I’ll sign up and start fooling around with it in one of my classes and see how it goes! Thanks again!

I’m going to try using your system to award ‘skills development’ badges for a college here in England for which I am a mentor. Should be a fun but effective way of helping the students to map how they can acquire study and library skills during a course curriculum and then show evidence in their portfolio. I hope your start-up keeps going.
