We know that education is changing. More classes are happening online, classrooms are flipped, project based learning is key. But more or less, students still attend school from roughly age 5 until they’re about 18, and then head off to college. Right?
Are you sure?
Perhaps the first step in understanding how education is changing is to really look at what we understand about how students have been and are currently learning, and more importantly, who these students are. Sometimes, our preconceived notions of what is ‘normal’ or ‘mainstream’ can throw off our ideas of what should be happening in the future.
So let’s play a little game, shall we?
Imagine for a moment, a ‘typical’ college student. A large number of readers will likely conjure an image of an 18-22 year old on a campus, living in a dormitory, on their way to a four year degree. Well, that’s not *exactly* the case. Check out the infographic below to see what a ‘typical’ college student really is and how they’ve changed from what you just imagined.
